From the very beginning, we made a commitment to overseeing the pre-press and manufacturing of all of our books, a very complicated and time-consuming portion of the printed book process, for the simple reason that we feel we know best exactly how a book we’ve produced should ultimately look and feel. It also allows us a great deal of control in terms of selecting the best and most appropriate print processes and book materials, be it multiple colors or special
inks, folding accordian-style bindings, or even a full-size lenticular cover (as with Toy Story). From the quality of color separation and optimization of images and the choices of paper and binding materials to working with the best printers the world has to offer, our books benefit from our making experienced, thoughtful, and often inspired decisions as well as from our having the deepest investment in achieving the most spectacular, and satisfying, printed result.
